Paranubes Oaxacan Rum Joins Forces with Suro International Imports

Partnership Set to Lead Emerging Category

April 16, 2019 (Oaxaca, Mexico) – Paranubes Oaxacan Rum is excited to announce that we have joined Suro International Imports, as part of their import portfolio in the US. Over the past two years, we have worked diligently to share the passion and excitement that created Paranubes and shine a light on the as yet underappreciated category of Mexican rum. Cane juice rum’s terroir-driven profile, as well as the history and tradition behind Master Distiller Jose Luís Carrera’s process, ensure that Paranubes will complement Suro International’s portfolio. David Suro has spent years following a like-minded philosophy in showcasing Mexican spirits as well as the families and the history behind them.

As many of you may know, David has an exemplary record of being a safeguard of preservation for traditional methods against the flood of modernization that has entered the Mexican spirits arena. We could not imagine a better partner to help Paranubes reach consumers while preserving our family traditions. His focus on empowering producers and their surrounding communities is the very same that inspired us to bring Paranubes to market. By joining the Suro International import portfolio, we are confident that we are helping to create one of the definitive and most respectedMexican spirits portfolios.

David Suro has been a dear friend and mentor to us since long before Paranubes was even an idea in our minds. About Paranubes – Paranubes Oaxacan Rum is the first Oaxacan cane juice rum exported outside of Mexico. Living and working in the Sierra Mazateca region, Master Distiller José Luís Carrera is preserving the traditions of his father and grandfather, producing 100% natural cane juice rum with no additives or water being added before or after distillation. It is rum, undisturbed. Harvesting by hand, José Luís crushes his daily harvest with a mechanical mill and ferments the free-run juice in wooden vats, using only ambient yeast. Once fermented, the juice, or tepache is distilled in 550-liter copper pot stills, with a six-plate copper column mounted on top. Paranubes is single-distilled to 54% ABV, being bottled without any dilution.
